Creative Residencies:
Engendered Dance Festival announces two creative residencies and one collaborative incubation for 2010. The creative residencies provides artists with time and space to research and develop their process across different artistic mediums. Priority consideration is given to artists whose projects are in the earliest conceptual stages of development. Resident artists receive several hours of free rehearsal space during the week long period of the festival at the Engendered studio. Artists are encouraged to work outside of the comfort zone of their community and challenge the boundaries of their creative process. Hence they are paired with other artist from different disciplines to foster dialogue. The Dialogues provide artists with a platform to discuss their work in a safe and supportive environment, as well as exchange ideas and examine trends in the field. Some of the rehearsals are open and allow for dialogue with a group of peers. Each of the residencies will culminate in a short choreographic work which will be premiered at the festival showcase on Apr 25 at the Lincoln Center.
